Collagen Berry Ice Pops

Do you remember Mr. Freeze freezies you use to eat nonstop in the summer time?? When you would hoard you favourite flavour and cut both sides of you mouth open on the plastic edges, but you didn’t care, they were too dang tasty. I have upgraded from the cherished Mr. Freeze to a antioxidant, protein packed frozen treat that saves you money and sores on your mouth. Collagen is also a huge ticket item in the health world these days because it has so many benefits to the body. It helps repair the gut lining, boosts hair skin and nails and is a great protein source for those with allergies/ intolerances to dairy or legumes. I try to have collagen everyday and I notice a huge difference in my nail strength and the way my hair stays long and strong. Collagen is found all over our bodies and also helps with bone, tendon and cartilage strength to speed recover and prevent injury. It keeps is strong and stable in our bodies during movement and makes our skin tight and bright into our old age. I also love that collagen powder can be added to many recipes hot or cold and I usually add it to my tea in the morning. However, on these smokin’ hot Okanagan days I would rather have my collagen in the frozen form, accompanied by some delicious fresh fruits from the yard. The added benefit of consuming collagen with fresh berries is that they contain a high amount of vitamin C and vitamin C acts as a regulator for collagen in the body and helps build more collagen. Once given all of the proper amino acids that are broken down in digestion (from dietary collagen consumption), vitamin C builds it up again in the appropriate area of the body. They work together and therefore should be consumed together in this case. Consuming them in a tasty form is the best way for children and adults to get the protein and strength they need for a healthy life.
